The quote sets out the scope, what happens to the timber and the stump, and the date. It is the contractor's quote, and nothing starts until you accept it.
The work and the clean up
On the day the tree is dealt with as quoted, the green waste leaves on the truck and the lawn is raked.

Pruning, lopping and how much comes off
Is pruning the same as lopping?
No. Lopping cuts limbs back to stubs, and a lopped tree usually grows back thick, crowded and weak at the cuts. Pruning cuts back to a branch or the trunk, at a point the tree can grow over.
How much can come off in one go?
It depends on the species and how healthy the tree is, and taking too much at once can set a tree back. The contractor will say what it can stand once they have seen it.
What about the tree on the nature strip?
A street tree is the council's, so pruning it back from the house is a request to the council rather than a job to book. Trees on your side of the boundary are what can be quoted.
